First Rudolph Day for 2015

As some of you already know the 25th of each month is designated Rudolph Day for the purposes of the Rudolph Day challenge which this year is being hosted by Scrappymo of Scraps Of Life By Scrappymo,  after taking over from Sarn who stepped down at the end of last year. The idea of this challenge is to get a head start on making christmas cards by making at least one each month. Of course you can make more if you wish but you only need one to enter. The challenge opens on 25th and remains open until the end of the month. There are a friendly bunch of cardmakers who take part every month so why not pop over to Scappymo's and join in.
So onto my card which I had intended to make at the weekend ready for Sunday 25th, but it just didn't happen so here I am a few days late. This is an unusual card for me as it has no stamping on it. I bought this Dovecraft paper pack before last christmas but didn't get round to using it. It is also different colour wise for me as well but I really liked it. The folded card is A6 size and I cut the christmas words paper to fit the front leaving just a narrow border. I then cut a panel of the green fir cone paper and matted it onto some plain brown from the same pack. After sticking these together I wrapped some matching ribbon around and secured at the back before sticking the whole panel to the card front. I think it was a Britania die that I used to cut the fir branch and cones at the top. I felt it needed a little brightening up so added a tiny red bow made from the ribbon cut from the shoulders of a jumper and then I also tied another piece through the holes in a button from a set coordinating with the papers and glued to over the ribbon greeting.

Simple Daisy

Hi everyone I hope you are all managing to keep nice and warm during this cold weather we are getting just now and that you haven't had to suffer too severe conditions. We are quite lucky here on the south coast  and miss most of the worst weather, it has been very cold this week though with a few frosty mornings and then a lot of rain during last night, but on the positive side there has been some beautiful sunshine in between.
On to my card, this is actually one that I made before christmas but didn't get round to blogging it then. I made it for my daughter's birthday which was between christmas and new year. The base card is an ivory DL size and the daisy was stamped onto a snippet of ivory card with black Memento ink. I coloured it with Promarkers  and a white gel pen, then trimmed it and mounted it onto a snippet of blue card. It is the first time I had used this stamp from Inkylicious, (it was another of my NEC purchases back in November.) I used part of an Imagination Crafts stencil to decorate the card before adding the stamped panel with thin foam tape. The birthday greeting stamp is from Stamp Tapestry and I used slightly thicker foam pads to enable it to overlap the daisy panel.

A Little Update and My First Card This Year

Hi all, it's been a while since my last post, I have been having a rather lazy couple of weeks over the holiday period. My craft stash has to be tidied away and the half of our dining table which serves permanently as my work desk has to be cleared in order to be able to use it for it's original purpose, and now the festivities are over I have been finding hard to get motivated again. However I
have made a card this week which I can enter in a few challenges,
but first I must just show what I found in my e-mail in box this
morning. This is my youngest great granddaughter Kaycie wearing the little dress that I made her for christmas. She is just 7 months old and has just started sitting up unsupported and has two lovely front teeth. I was so pleased that the dress fitted her as I wasn't too sure while I was knitting it.


Darnell of dkjkardkreations is hosting her third NBUS (never before used schtuff) challenge to celebrate her milestone follower total. 700 I think, wow!!!, and she has some very generous prizes up for grabs too. When I visited the Hobby Crafts show at the NEC back in November I bought four background stamps at the WOW stand along with some embossing powders, but with the bustle of christmas preparations I never got round to playing with them, so I thought this was a perfect opportunity to do just that.
For my card I used this pretty floral background stamp and stamped it onto an A6 tent fold card with Versafine ink and then
added colour with Pan Pastels. I started quite gently until all the ink was covered and then just continued adding more till I was happy with the result. When done I used a chalk eraser to tidy up the edges of the card and then gave it a quick spritz with hairspray to make sure the colour stayed put. The butterfly is cut from a snippet of yellow pearl card with a Memory Box die. I cut the matching solid butterfly from sparkly film which I also bought at the NEC and used here for the fist time too. I adhered the two butterflies together and glued just the body to fix it to the card and then added the gems. I dabbed a little Star Dust Stickles to the centres of the flowers and stamped Thank You with Memento Elderberry ink.
